When I discovered that locker hooking as a needle craft, was the perfect technique for creating flower textures, I knew I had to get creative and produce some super colorful and textural designs. I always admired the texture you can achieve with traditional rug hooking using a latch hook, and beautiful embroidered florals. Turns out a locker hook and tapestry needle with fabric strips and ribbon can help create some amazing floral textures. This is what inspired me to create the Color Crazy Garden Bouquet collection. It took some time, but so glad I finally finished this seasonal series.
If you love colorful needle craft kits, you’ll love these designs. I kind of worked on these backwards…started with the Winter Bouquet. I wanted these to have lots of texture so I used Poppana strips, ribbon, and yarn. Using 5-Mesh (5HPI) canvas allows for more detailed designs. These designs involve layering and stitching to achieve a raised relief sculptural feel.
These needle craft kits were designed for those with more locker hooking experience, but beginners are finding the first two I created–Winter Bouquet & Autumn Bouquets— are definitely the easier designs. The Spring and Summer Bouquets are more complex involving stitching and some layering. They are more challenging, but so fun to create. I created videos on tips that help with finishing these last two kits.
